The World has Gone Crazy!

In times like these, peace can feel hard to reach. The weight of what’s happening in our country and around the world presses in on us daily—through headlines, social media, and conversations that leave us weary and anxious. It’s easy to feel unsettled, unsure of what tomorrow will bring, and tempted to let worry take root in our hearts.
Yet Scripture reminds us that even in the midst of chaos, God remains our refuge. His peace is not dependent on calm circumstances but on His unchanging presence. When the world feels loud and overwhelming, we are invited to come away, to be still, and to rest in the promises of God’s Word. These truths anchor us when everything else feels uncertain.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” ~ Psalm 46:10

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer believe
that you have received it, and it will be yours.” ~ Mark 11:24

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” ~ Romans 12:2

“Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7

Ways to Find Inner Peace in an Unpeaceful World

Below are a few simple practices that can help you quiet your heart and find peace right where you are. As you reflect on them, return often to the Scriptures above and below. God’s Word has a way of comforting us, steadying us, and reminding us that we are never alone.
PRACTICE MINDFULNESS (BEING STILL & PRESENT)

Be fully present in the moment without judgment. Slow down. Be aware of your thoughts and concerns, but don't get wrapped up in them. Notice them for what they are. Write them down, then close the book. Rest in God’s awareness and care.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” — Matthew 6:34

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
EMBRACE GRATITUDE

Reflect on the things you are grateful for. Give thanks to God for your health, your home, and your church. Use your thankfulness as a spiritual discipline and an act of worship.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.” — Psalm 100:4

“Every good and perfect gift is from above.” — James 1:17
ACCEPTANCE & LETTING GO

Accept that you do not have the power to change the world, but you can make changes in your corner of it. Letting go affirms your belief in God’s sovereignty and invites us to surrender—letting go of what we cannot control and trusting Him with the outcome.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” — Proverbs 19:21
ENGAGE IN SELF-CARE

It's not selfish to take care of oneself. God gave us this life, inviting us to live it well. Exercise. Eat well. Spend time in Bible study. Visit with friends. Take a walk in nature. These are all faithful responses to God's gift of life.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” — Mark 6:31

“A cheerful heart is good medicine.” — Proverbs 17:22
