Local Life & Lasting Health
Use What’s Around You
Theme scriptures: “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD!’” - Psalm 122:1
“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you…” - Isaiah 55:12
“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you…” - Isaiah 55:12

God provides wellness not only through church and faith—but also through the blessings around us: nature, recreation, learning, and rest.
Wellness isn’t just found in the pew—it’s also found in the park, the library, and the mountain trail. God’s creation, your local community, and your church all work together to help you flourish.
Take time to combine faithful worship with local opportunities to move, grow, and connect.
- Grab a friend and go for a walk on a greenway or a hike on a trail.
- Bike with your kids or spouse along the river.
- Go for a swim at the community center.
- Get out there in nature and breathe!
Because wellness isn't self-centered—it’s God-honoring. And a well soul can shine light into a weary world. ?
Free resources for physical wellness in our community:
- Pigeon Forge
- Stroll along the Pigeon Forge Riverwalk Greenway (includes over 4 miles of trails) which connects Patriot Park to The Island.
- Wear Farm City Park offers walking trails which loop around playgrounds (1/4 mi.) and a baseball complex (3/4 mi.).

- The Parkway goes from one end of town to the other and takes you by many of the attractions and restaurants of the city.
- The River Walk follows the Little Pigeon River, with gazebos and benches along the way.
- The Gatlinburg Trail (dog-friendly) is a 1.9 mile hike one-way to Sugarlands Visitor Center. Free parking is across from the Nantahala Outdoor Center.
- Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Other Resources
The Pigeon Forge Community Center offers all kinds of activities for children, youth, and adults. While it mainly served the Pigeon Forge Community, they do offer day, weekly, and monthly passes.
Rained out of your hike in the Smokies? Get a day pass and let the kids play basketball while you swim laps in the indoor pool. Workout in the well-equipped fitness center. Finish your trip with a visit to the attached public library.
